It belongs to the hunting breeds. Originally from Weimar (Germany). It is an ancient race represented in seventeenth-century paintings. There are different theories about the evolution of this breed, but the most followed is that this braco is related to the dog of San Humberto and, even today, by chance, some puppies are born with reddish spots on their eyes and extremities. For a long time only the nobles could own one and did not get spread until the arrival of the twentieth century.

It is a strong, athletic and medium-sized race, with beautiful lines and a hardly found colored fur cover; It has a high level of energy, being tireless, resistant, vital and extremely agile and fast. The Weimaraner is very versatile in terms of hunting, being able to be an excellent sample dog, collector in swampy terrain and occasionally blood dog trail of for his ascendant San Humberto´s dog.

Very attached to his master and his family, he is very protective, enjoys human company and abhors loneliness. It is a very brave and obedient race but quite stubborn, so they need a patient and very firm master. For his great venative instinct must be socialized from puppy to facilitate their coexistence with other animals.
Its quality for the owner’s defense and family should not be encouraged so as not to generate extremely aggressive or violent dogs.

You need a lot of exercise to lower its high energy level and in this way get their emotional balance; otherwise, you may acquire undesirable behaviors.
Physiognomy
The eyes are amber in all shades; when they are puppies they have blue eyes. Head provided with the size of the body, with slightly domed skull. With a long and strong snout, its jaws are powerful with a scissor bite. High insertion ears, wide and quite long. They are wide at the base and bent forward, with the tip rounded and always lacy. Muscular neck almost rounded and of medium length; slight curvature in its union with the base of the skull that gives the race a very elegant appearance.
